5-bromo-N,N-dimethyltryptamine is a novel, naturally occurring tryptamine found in certain species of deep marine sea sponges, including Smenospongia aurea and Smenospongia echina.
Research on the substance, including detailed human bioassays, have been published in the news before (Wallach and Morris). These reports describe the effects of 5-bromo-DMT as being moderately psychedelic, sedating, analgesic, and antidepressant in activity.
